The components of the container mechanical seal are:
1) Main components, including dynamic ring and static ring;
(2) Auxiliary seals, mainly refers to sealing rings;
(3) Elastic compensation mechanism, mainly including springs and push rings;
(4) Transmission parts, spring seats and keys or various screws.
(1) Dynamic and static rings
Mainly fit tightly to form the sealing surface of the container machinery to prevent medium leakage. The dynamic and static rings are required to have good wear resistance. The dynamic ring can move axially and automatically compensate for the wear of the sealing surface, so that it fits well with the static ring. The static ring has floating properties and plays a buffering role.
(2) Elastic elements (springs, corrugated plates, serpentine sleeves, etc.)
Mainly play the role of compensation, pre-tightening and buffering, and are also factors that produce a reasonable specific pressure on the end face of the container machinery seal. It is required to always maintain elasticity to overcome the friction of the auxiliary seal and transmission parts, and start the ring compensation. The material is required to be corrosion-resistant.
(3) Auxiliary seals (O-rings, V-rings, wedge rings and other special-shaped sealing rings)
Mainly play the role of sealing the static ring and the dynamic ring, and also play the role of floating and buffering. The auxiliary sealing element of the static ring is required to ensure the sealing between the static ring and the pressure cover, so that the static ring has a certain degree of floating; the auxiliary sealing element of the dynamic ring is required to ensure the sealing between the dynamic ring and the shaft or sleeve. The material requirements are heat resistance and cold resistance close to the medium.
(4) Transmission parts
The transmission parts include transmission pins, transmission rings, transmission seats, transmission sleeves, transmission keys, transmission lugs or tooth-type connectors, which are used to transmit the torque of the shaft to the dynamic ring. The material is required to be corrosion-resistant and wear-resistant.
(5) Fasteners
The fasteners include: set screws, spring seats, pressure covers, assembly sleeves, and sleeves. They play the role of positioning and fastening the static and dynamic rings. Correct positioning is required to ensure that the friction pair sealing surface is in the correct position and maintain a good fit of the spring specific pressure; at the same time, it is required to be easy to disassemble and assemble, easy to place, and reusable; the chamfer and compression amount of the sealing ring should be paid attention to at the place where it cooperates with the auxiliary seal, and special attention should be paid to the corrosion and wear resistance of the dynamic ring seal and the sleeve. If necessary, a hard surface layer should be used.
