1. Stainless steel
Stainless steel is a commonly used mechanical sealing material. It has excellent corrosion resistance and mechanical strength, and can play a stable sealing effect under various working conditions. Stainless steel is widely used in different fields, such as food processing, medical equipment, chemical industry, etc. However, stainless steel seals are only suitable for environments with temperatures below 350℃ and pressures below 20MPa, and the cost of stainless steel seals is relatively high, and there are certain limitations under high temperature and high pressure.
2. Silicon carbide
Silicon carbide is another commonly used mechanical sealing material. Silicon carbide has the advantages of high hardness, good wear resistance, high temperature resistance, and corrosion resistance. It performs well in high temperature, high pressure, and highly corrosive environments. However, silicon carbide is relatively brittle. If it rubs against metal during the process, it will produce metal abrasive wear, shortening the service life of the mechanical seal.
3. Carbon fiber
Carbon fiber mechanical seals have the advantages of good sealing performance, good corrosion resistance, and light weight. Carbon fiber seals are usually used in high corrosion, high temperature, and high pressure environments in petrochemical, coal chemical, and pharmaceutical industries. However, carbon fiber seals also have certain wear and service life problems, and need to be maintained and replaced regularly.
4. Ceramics
In the case of strong corrosive processes involving acids, alkalis and solvents, ceramic materials with high chemical stability can be used as mechanical seals, such as aluminum oxide, silicon boride, silicon carbide, silicon nitride, etc. However, although ceramic sealing materials have excellent performance in corrosion resistance and high temperature resistance, they are expensive and cannot withstand extreme pressure, and their application range is limited.
In short, the selection of suitable mechanical sealing materials needs to be based on specific working conditions, requirements and needs. According to different use environments, choosing different mechanical sealing materials can improve the efficiency and life of mechanical seals and reduce the cost of maintenance and replacement.
