The sealing ring is the general term for the moving ring and the static ring, and is the most important component of the mechanical seal. The sealing ring determines the performance and life of the mechanical seal to a large extent, therefore, it places some requirements on it.
Have sufficient strength and stiffness
It should not be damaged under working conditions (such as pressure, temperature and sliding speed, etc.), the deformation should be as small as possible, and the sealing performance should be maintained when working conditions fluctuate. In particular, the sealing end face must have sufficient strength and a certain degree of corrosion resistance to ensure a satisfactory service life of the product.
Have good thermal shock resistance
For this reason, the material is required to have a high thermal conductivity and a small linear expansion coefficient, so that it will not crack when subjected to thermal shock.
Smaller coefficient of friction
The matching seal ring should have a small friction coefficient.
Good self-lubricating properties
If dry friction occurs for a short period of time during work, the sealing end face will not be damaged. Therefore, the sealing ring must have good self-lubricating properties, and the sealing ring material and sealing fluid must have good wettability.
Simple structure
The sealing ring structure should be simple and symmetrical. Priority is given to the overall structure. Combined (such as inlay-type) sealing rings can also be used. Try to avoid using the sealing end face spray-type structure.
The sealing ring should be easy to process and manufacture
The installation and maintenance should be convenient and the price should be low.
