What are the characteristics of mechanical seals
Mechanical seal is a device that relies on the elastic element to preload the static and dynamic ring end face seal pairs and the medium pressure and elastic element pressure to achieve axial end face sealing. Generally divided into two categories: contact type and non-contact type. It is characterized by:
1. The seal is reliable and will not leak or rarely leak during a long period of use. Clean, no dead ends, can prevent bacterial contamination.
2. Long service life. A mechanical seal with correctly selected friction load ratio can be used for 2 to 5 years, and can be used for up to 9 years.
3. The maintenance cycle is long and no maintenance is required under normal working conditions.
4. The shaft or sleeve is not subject to wear.
5. Friction power loss is small, generally about 10 to 50% of the stuffing box seal.
6. The mechanical seal has less strict requirements on the accuracy and smoothness of the shaft than the stuffing box. It is not sensitive to the vibration of the rotating shaft and the deflection of the shaft to the housing hole, and is less sensitive to the vibration of the shaft.
7. It has a wide range of applications and can be used for sealing at low temperatures, high temperatures, high vacuum, high pressure, various rotational speeds, and corrosive, abrasive, flammable, explosive, and toxic media.
