Alumina ceramic mechanical seals are purpose-built OEM-interchangeable replacements for Flygt 2000 and 3000 series submersible wastewater pumps, including models 2066, 2088, 3068 and 3102. Featuring bonded 95–99.5% high-purity Al₂O₃ ceramic stationary rings paired with resin-impregnated carbon graphite rotating faces, these seals resist corrosion from hydrogen sulfide, methane and aggressive sewage chemicals that degrade tungsten carbide alternatives. Designed for the oil-side upper seal position, they provide reliable barrier-fluid separation under continuous submersion, intermittent dry-run and thermal cycling in lift stations and treatment basins—factory-direct from our ISO 9001 workshop at wholesale cost.
Key Features
• Legacy Replacement:Alumina ceramic mechanical seals Ideal for older generation Flygt 2000 series pumps (e.g., 2066, 2102) where Alumina Ceramic was the original standard specification.
• Corrosion Proof: Ceramic is immune to the corrosion that attacks tungsten carbide binders in certain acidic wastewater environments.
• Upper Seal Application: Excellent choice for the "Upper Seal" position (motor side) in modern Flygt pumps, running in a clean oil bath.
• Bonded Face Technology: The ceramic ring in our flygt mechanical seal is securely bonded to the stainless steel holder to prevent rotation and leakage under torque load, ensuring long-term reliability in submersible wastewater pump applications.
• Cost-Efficiency: Provides a significant cost saving over Tungsten Carbide seals for non-abrasive applications or secondary sealing duties, making alumina ceramic mechanical seals the economical choice for Flygt pump oil-side positions in municipal wastewater and stormwater systems.

Case Study
Municipal Sump: Replaced the upper seals on a fleet of Flygt 3127 pumps. Using Alumina/Carbon for the upper seal (oil side) saved 40% on the overhaul cost compared to using TC/TC, with no loss in reliability for that specific position.
Testimonials
For the upper seal in the oil chamber, there's no need for expensive carbide. These ceramic seals work perfectly and save us budget.

FAQs
Q: Can I use this as the lower seal?
A: Only if the pumped fluid is relatively clean (e.g., stormwater). For raw sewage with grit and sand, we strongly recommend Tungsten Carbide for the lower seal. Ceramic is brittle and can chip from rock impacts.
Q: Which Flygt pump models and positions are alumina ceramic mechanical seals designed for?
A: They are engineered as the upper (motor-side / oil-bath) seal for Flygt 2000 and 3000 series submersible pumps—including 2066, 2102, 3068, 3102 and 3127. They are also the correct legacy replacement where Al₂O₃ was the original OEM spec on older 2000-series units. For the lower seal facing raw sewage with grit, we still recommend Tungsten Carbide.
Q: Why use alumina ceramic instead of Tungsten Carbide for the oil-side Flygt pump seal?
A: In the clean oil bath, alumina ceramic paired with carbon graphite gives excellent face stability, is immune to the acidic corrosion that attacks WC binder phases, and saves 30–40% versus TC/TC sets with no loss of reliability at that position. It is the cost-efficient choice for non-abrasive secondary sealing duty.
Q: Is the ceramic ring durable enough for torque load and thermal cycling in submersible service?
A: Yes. The Al₂O₃ ring is securely bonded to a 316L stainless holder to prevent rotation under torque, and our R&D validates every Flygt pump seal through thermal cycling and pressure trials. Bonded-face construction avoids chipping from shaft whip, while the ceramic itself shrugs off thermal shock between cold sump and warm motor-oil conditions.
