Key Features
• Zero Leakage to Atmosphere: The pressurized double seal arrangement uses a barrier fluid to ensure that any leakage is contained within the seal loop, never reaching the environment.
• Optimized for Hydrocarbons: FKM or FFKM O-rings are selected specifically for compatibility with crude oil, diesel, and refined petroleum products.
• Balanced Face Design: Hydraulically balanced faces reduce heat generation, crucial for preventing vaporization of volatile oils.
• Pumping Ring Circulation: Features an integrated pumping ring that actively circulates barrier fluid to a reservoir, removing heat from the seal faces more effectively than passive convection.
• Robust Drive Pins: Heavy-duty drive pins prevent the seal faces from slipping under high viscosity start-up conditions common in oil pumps.
Product Introduction
The double acting O ring mechanical seal for oil pumps is a premium safety sealing system designed for absolute containment of hydrocarbon-based fluids, including lubricating oils, fuels, hydraulic oils, and other petroleum-based products. This mechanical seal employs a dual, pressurized seal arrangement where a clean barrier fluid (often a compatible oil or glycol) is maintained at a higher pressure than the process fluid, ensuring zero process emission to the environment.

Case Study
Refinery Transfer Pump: A crude oil transfer pump was leaking vapors, causing safety concerns. We retrofitted it with our Double Acting O ring mechanical seal and API Plan 53A. The pressurized barrier fluid stopped all process leakage, eliminating VOC emissions.
Testimonials

FAQs
Q: Why use a double seal for oil?
A: Many oils are volatile, flammable, or hazardous. A single seal may leak small amounts of vapor. A double pressurized seal (Plan 53A) provides a buffer of clean fluid at a higher pressure than the product, ensuring zero process fluid escapes to the atmosphere.
Q: What barrier fluid should I use with this double acting seal for a lube oil pump?
A: The most common and recommended barrier fluid is a clean, compatible light lubricating oil, often the same as or similar to the process fluid. For high-temperature applications, a synthetic oil with higher thermal stability may be used (Plan 53B). Water-glycol is sometimes used but requires verification of material compatibility. MIAOYU can provide specific recommendations based on your process oil and operating temperature.
Q: How does this seal's "double acting" or "dual pressurized" design work?
A: The O ring mechanical seal has two sets of primary sealing faces. The space between them is filled with a barrier fluid from an external reservoir. A pumping ring (or external pump) maintains this barrier fluid at a pressure higher than the process pressure in the pump. This pressure differential ensures that if a leak path develops, it is the clean barrier fluid that leaks into the process (or to the atmosphere via the outer seal), not the hazardous process fluid leaking out.
