Single spring rubber bellow mechanical seals are unbalanced, inside-mounted elastomer bellow seals designed as drop-in OEM-interchangeable replacements for John Crane Type 1, AES W01/W02, Roten Type 1, MG1 and similar industry-standard configurations. The rubber bellow isolates the spring from the pumped fluid while absorbing shaft runout and axial end-play, and the non-clog coil spring ensures consistent face loading even when debris is present. Precision-lapped carbon graphite faces paired with alumina ceramic or tungsten carbide stationary seats hold leakage below 0.1 ml/h at up to 1.2 MPa and 180°C, covering shaft sizes from 12 mm to 100 mm. Ideal for raw water pumps, sewage lift stations, cooling towers, irrigation and light chemical transfer.
Key Features
• High-Heat Elastomers: Specifically configured with high-performance O-rings like FKM (Viton®), AFLAS®, or FFKM to survive in pumps operating above 150°C.
• Thermal Stability: The seal design includes increased clearances to accommodate the thermal expansion of metal parts at high temperatures without binding.
• Hot Water & Steam Ready: When equipped with peroxide-cured EPDM or AFLAS, these seals resist the steam / hot water attack that degrades standard nitrile rubber.
• Heat-Treated Faces: We use Sintered Silicon Carbide faces which have superior thermal conductivity, pulling heat away from the sensitive O-rings to extend their life.
• Anti-Extrusion Design: Includes backup rings or specially designed grooves to prevent the O-ring from extruding under high pressure when the rubber softens at heat.

Case Study
District Heating: A district heating network faced seal failures every winter due to 140°C water. We supplied this seal with AFLAS O-rings. The specialized rubber withstood the hot water and steam, lasting through the entire heating season.
Testimonials
Standard Viton failed in our steam condensate lines. These high-temp rubber seals held up. Great technical advice on material selection.

FAQs
Q: Is FKM (Viton) good for steam?
A: Generally, no. Standard FKM hydrolyzes (breaks down) in steam. For hot water/steam above 120°C, we recommend AFLAS® or EPDM. FKM is better for hot oil.
Q: Which pump seal types do single spring rubber bellow seals replace?
A: They are direct drop-in OEM-interchangeable replacements for John Crane Type 1, AES W01/W02, Roten Type 1, MG1 and similar unbalanced inside-mounted elastomer bellow seals. The single large-diameter coil spring drives the rubber bellow and rotating face together as one unit—no dynamic O-rings, no multi-spring clogging, no set screws—covering shaft sizes from 12 mm to 100 mm.
Q: What is the advantage of a single spring over multiple small springs in dirty or slurry service?
A: Multiple small springs clog with debris, rust and scale, causing face hang-up and sudden leakage. A single spring rubber bellow seal uses one heavy-section coil spring that cannot trap particles, plus the rubber bellow itself isolates the spring from the pumped fluid—making it the preferred choice for wastewater, raw water, slurries and fluids with suspended solids.
Q: What materials and duty limits are available for these rubber bellow mechanical seals?
A: Standard construction: carbon graphite rotating face vs alumina ceramic or tungsten carbide stationary seat, with NBR, EPDM or FKM rubber bellows. Duty range: –20 to 180°C (FKM), ≤1.2 MPa, ≤10 m/s shaft speed, bidirectional rotation.
