Q: Is FKM (Viton) good for steam?

A: Generally, no. Standard FKM hydrolyzes (breaks down) in steam. For hot water/steam above 120°C, we recommend AFLAS® or EPDM. FKM is better for hot oil.

Q: Which pump seal types do single spring rubber bellow seals replace?

A: They are direct drop-in OEM-interchangeable replacements for John Crane Type 1, AES W01/W02, Roten Type 1, MG1 and similar unbalanced inside-mounted elastomer bellow seals. The single large-diameter coil spring drives the rubber bellow and rotating face together as one unit—no dynamic O-rings, no multi-spring clogging, no set screws—covering shaft sizes from 12 mm to 100 mm.

Q: What is the advantage of a single spring over multiple small springs in dirty or slurry service?

A: Multiple small springs clog with debris, rust and scale, causing face hang-up and sudden leakage. A single spring rubber bellow seal uses one heavy-section coil spring that cannot trap particles, plus the rubber bellow itself isolates the spring from the pumped fluid—making it the preferred choice for wastewater, raw water, slurries and fluids with suspended solids.

Q: What materials and duty limits are available for these rubber bellow mechanical seals?

A: Standard construction: carbon graphite rotating face vs alumina ceramic or tungsten carbide stationary seat, with NBR, EPDM or FKM rubber bellows. Duty range: –20 to 180°C (FKM), ≤1.2 MPa, ≤10 m/s shaft speed, bidirectional rotation.
