Single and Double Rubber Mechanical Seal

Single and Double Rubber Mechanical Seal

Single and double rubber mechanical seals are modular elastomer bellow assemblies designed as drop-in OEM-interchangeable replacements for John Crane Type 1, AES W01/W02, Roten Type 1, MG1 and similar industry-standard configurations. Precision-lapped faces hold leakage below 0.1 ml/h at up to 1.2 MPa and 180°C, covering shaft sizes from 12 mm to 100 mm.

Key Features

• Modular Platform: A versatile cartridge seal platform available in both Single (1x) and Double (2x) configurations, utilizing rubber bellows or O-rings for secondary sealing.

• Single Seal Economy: The single version of this single and double mechanical seal offers a cost-effective, easy-to-install solution for standard water and wastewater duties.

• Double Seal Safety: The double version of this rubber bellow seal creates a barrier fluid chamber, providing zero emissions for hazardous, toxic, or abrasive fluids.

• Universal Gland: The gland plate is designed with universal slots to fit a wide variety of ANSI and DIN pump bolt circles.

• Sleeve Protection: Both single and double versions of the rubber bellow seal mount on a shaft sleeve, ensuring the rubber components never wear grooves into the pump shaft.

Workshop

This workshop is equipped with professional processing equipment and integrated with standardized material warehousing management, enabling a one-stop production process from precision machining of single and double mechanical seal components to finished product delivery. Dedicated production lines for each rubber bellow seal configuration ensure part machining accuracy and production efficiency, meeting various high-specification manufacturing requirements for water treatment, light chemical, food processing and submersible pump applications.

Case Study

Chemical Waste: A plant moved from single seals to our Double Rubber Cartridge seals on their waste neutralization pumps. The double arrangement with a water flush prevented the acidic waste from attacking the seal faces, extending life by 4x.

Testimonials

We use the single cartridges for water and the double cartridges for our polymer dosing. Great to have one supplier for both.

FAQs

Q: When do I need a double seal?

A: Use a double seal if the fluid is dangerous, expensive, or has poor lubricating properties (like glue or hot water). The barrier fluid protects the seal faces and the environment.

Q: What is the difference between the single and double configuration of this rubber mechanical seal?

A: The single and double mechanical seal shares the same modular base platform. The single version uses one set of lapped faces and is ideal for clean water, HVAC and light chemical duty where leakage to atmosphere is acceptable. The double version adds a second stationary seat and a barrier-fluid chamber between the two face sets, providing zero emissions for hazardous, toxic, abrasive or dry-running applications.

Q: Does the double configuration require external barrier fluid support?

A: Yes. The double rubber bellow sealrequires a pressurized buffer fluid (water, glycol or oil) circulated through the intermediate chamber at 0.14–0.28 MPa above process pressure. This barrier fluid lubricates both face pairs, flushes away abrasives and prevents process fluid from reaching the atmosphere—commonly used in chemical transfer, slurry pumps and EPA-regulated VOC services.

Q: What shaft sizes and pump standards do these single and double seals fit?

A: Both configurations cover shaft sizes from 12 mm to 100 mm. The gland plate features universal bolt slots compatible with ANSI B73.1 and DIN 24960 pump bolt circles, and the entire single and double mechanical seal mounts on a replaceable shaft sleeve—protecting the pump shaft from rubber-component fretting and enabling reuse of the sleeve on rebuilds.
