Q: Why not use SiC/SiC?
A: For hot water, Carbon vs. Tungsten Carbide or Carbon vs. SiC is often preferred because Carbon has self-lubricating properties that forgive the poor lubricity of hot water. Hard-on-hard faces can generate too much heat.
