O-ring ceramic mechanical seals are purpose-built for top-entry and side-entry mixers, agitators and blenders in food, pharmaceutical and chemical processing. Each mixer mechanical seal features high-purity Al₂O₃ ceramic rotating faces paired with carbon graphite or SiC stationary seats, using double O-ring mounted designs to absorb shaft runout and wobble common in mixer applications. These ceramic mechanical seals are chemical-inert and dry-run tolerant, delivering leak-free performance under low-pressure slurry, viscous batch and intermittent operation—factory-direct from our ISO 9001 workshop at wholesale cost.
Key Features
• Mixer Duty: Ceramic mechanical seals are designed for top-entry and side-entry mixers in the food, pharmaceutical, and chemical industries.
• Chemical Inertness: Alumina Ceramic faces resist attack from a wide range of acids, alkalis, and salts used in mixing processes.
• O-Ring Mounted Seat: The stationary seat is mounted on O-rings to provide vibration damping, protecting the brittle ceramic from the shaft runout common in long mixer shafts.
• Dry-Run Tolerance: When paired with a specialized dry-running Carbon face, this mixer mechanical seal can handle the vapor phase in the top of a mixing tank.
• Large Clearances: Ceramic mechanical seals are designed with larger internal clearances to accommodate the shaft deflection (wobble) inherent in mixing applications.

Case Study
Chemical Agitator: A paint mixing tank seal failed due to solvent attack on the face binder. We replaced it with a Solid Alumina Ceramic seal. The inert ceramic resisted the solvents completely, ensuring batch purity.
Testimonials
We put these on our side-entry agitators. The ceramic faces hold up well against the chemical slurry we mix.

FAQs
Q: Can ceramic handle the vibration of a mixer?
A: Ceramic is strong but brittle. Our design uses heavy-duty O-rings to "float" the ceramic seat, absorbing the vibrations and preventing cracking. For extreme vibration, Silicon Carbide is recommended.
Q: Why are alumina ceramic faces preferred over carbon graphite for mixer mechanical seals in abrasive or slurry applications?
A: High-purity Al₂O₃ ceramic faces offer superior hardness and wear resistance compared to carbon graphite, making them ideal for ceramic mechanical seals handling abrasive slurries, crystallizing media or viscous batches in food, pharmaceutical and chemical mixers. They resist scoring from suspended particles and maintain a stable leakage rate over extended service intervals.
Q: How does the double O-ring mounted design benefit a mixer mechanical seal operating with shaft runout or wobble?
A: Top-entry and side-entry mixers commonly experience shaft deflection, vibration and wobble during batch agitation. Our mixer mechanical seal uses double O-ring mounted stationary seats that flex and self-align with shaft movement, absorbing runout up to ±0.5 mm without compromising the seal face contact—preventing premature face fracture and extending seal life.
Q: Can MIAOYU O-ring ceramic mechanical seals handle dry-run conditions during mixer startup or tank emptying?
A: Yes. When paired with a carbon graphite mating face, our ceramic mechanical seals can tolerate brief dry-run periods of 30–60 seconds during initial startup, tank draining or air purging. The self-lubricating carbon face provides temporary boundary lubrication until process fluid reaches the seal faces, protecting the harder ceramic face from thermal cracking.
